Summer STEM Research Academy at SIUE

SIUE is inviting middle school students to join our National Institutes of Health (NIH) Science Education Participation Award (SEPA) Environmental Health Investigators (EHI) Summer Research Academy. This two-week summer academy will be held June 20th through June 30th, 2023, from 9am to 3pm, on the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) campus. Our team of environmental scientists, trained instructors, and university graduate assistants have exciting, hands-on activities planned that are focused on understanding environmental quality and how that affects our health. Free lunch, snacks, water bottles, t-shirts, and program materials are provided. MENTAL HEALTH HOTLINE

Call4Calm is a support text line in Illinois for residents that are experiencing stress and mental health issues related to Covid-19. Individuals who would like to speak with a mental health professional can text "TALK" to 5-5-2-0-2-0, or for Spanish, "HABLAR" to the same number.

Call4Calm is FREE to use and individuals will remain anonymous. Once a resident sends a text to the hotline, within 24 hours, they will receive a call from a counselor employee by a local community health center to provide support.

Individuals can also text key words such as "unemployment" or "food" or "shelter" to the same number (5-5-2-0-2-0) and will receive information on how to navigate and access supports and services.
