MEET DR. MCCLAIN:
THEME FOR THE YEAR: START STRONG....FINISH STRONGER!
TMS will be a place where students and staff feel inspired to learn and develop
the skills and mindsets of successful, independent, and productive citizens.
I am both honored and thrilled to be in my 2nd year as part of the Trimpe Middle School family! I look forward to more opportunities to meet this amazing community, our students, families, educational leaders, staff and stakeholders, as we begin the 2017-2018 school year. As the principal of Trimpe Middle School, I embrace the opportunity to partner with you to provide our students with a rigorous, engaging and memorable middle school experience.
Personally, I was raised in Mt. Olive and am officially a "coal miner's daughter". My parents have now moved outside of Columbia, Missouri so we often take road trips to visit them. I also have two siblings who still reside in the Macoupin County area. I live, with my family, in Holiday Shores. My husband is an OMC Supervisor at Phillips 66. My daughter, Lily, is beginning her own journey into middle school at Lincoln Middle School in Edwardsville and my stepson, Logan, is starting his junior year at Ft. Zumwalt East High School in St. Peters, MO. As a family we love to boat, bbq and simply relax and rewind with one another, our family, and our friends.
In regards to educational background, I graduated from SIUE with degrees in English and Psychology and the certificate to teach 6-12. I started my teaching career at East St. Louis High School and then spent the next five years in the Hazelwood School District in Missouri as an English Teacher. My first administrative job was 9 years ago as an assistant principal in Jennings, MO after I graduated with my Master's from Maryville University. My first head principal position was down the road in the Roxana School District. During my time in Roxana, I completed my Doctorate in Educational Administration from Maryville University. As a family we thought we would move to Missouri, so I took a position back on the Missouri side in Wentzville, MO as a head principal. However, as life sometimes does, our thoughts and plans changed and we remained in Holiday Shores. We then decided it would be better for our family for me to be closer to home so I accepted this position in Bethalto last year. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year here at TMS and am excited to start my 2nd year as principal here at TMS.
I hope you are as excited as I am for this school year. I look forward to continuing to build strong relationships with parents, students and community partners. I am committed to ensuring that every Trimpe Middle student receives the very best education possible, and that all students and their families realize they are an important part of our success.
Please know that my door is always open. Feel free to stop in, call, or email me to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this year the best year yet!
I feel truly blessed to be the instructional leader of such a special school community. August 16 cannot come soon enough!
Yours In Education,
Dr. Kelly McClain
